Meet us in front of the NHHS Tower on 15th Street for a festival that celebrates everything that makes our alma mater so special. There are almost too many good things packed into one afternoon! Food trucks from TK Burger & Tacomiendo Mexican Grill, chocolate chip cookies from NHHS Culinary Arts, a stage with live music from alumni bands, campus tours, a chance to see inside our Heritage Hall museum, pop-up booths from NHHS teams & groups, as well as a meet-and-greet area with beloved teachers, coaches, and staff.

We know you’ve been waiting to see THE TOWER documentary featuring 90 years of memories, film, photographs, and interviews with your favorite teachers and alumni. So we’re thrilled to invite you to an in-person private viewing and Q&A with our filmmaker Rick Chatillon Class of 1970. Enjoy the inspiring story about the special school that is the heart of our community, and then walk out of the theater into our Campus Open House Festival. In accordance with local and district health guidelines, we have a limited capacity with masks required inside the theater, so make sure to grab your seats in advance so you don’t miss out!

“Battle of the Alumni Bands” by Decade on the Sailor Stage – Live Music 12:00-3:00pm

12:00pm – “Walter, Etc.” with Kris Schobert and Dustin Hayes Class of 2009, Jake Lee
Class of 2010, and bandmate Milk

Walter Etc. (FKA Walter Mitty and His Makeshift Orchestra) was started in Newport Beach in 2009 by childhood friends Dustin Hayes, Kris Schobert, and Jake Lee. For over a decade the band has pumped out a dozen records of folk, indie, and surf punk gems held together by Hayes’ bitingly honest lyrics and the ongoing story of “Walter.”

1:00pm – “The Milestones” with John Ferraro Class of 1973, Ron Levy Class of 1976, and friends

Combined this group has over 150 years of musical experience. On drums, John has worked at Disneyland, the Pantages Theatre, and with greats like Barry Manilow, Burt Bacharach, Linda Rondsadt, and Rod Stewart. Ron is a professional jazz pianist, composer and teacher who has worked with many of the finest musicians, including Paul Willams, and has received UCLA’s Henry Mancini Award. An honorary Sailor for the day, Ernie has played bass with Brian Setzer, Paul Anka, Les Brown, and many more. Enjoy their cool and swinging sound.

2:00pm – “Fireside Chats” with Oscar Constandse and Brett Baker Class of 1998, Jack
Hogan Class of 1995, and bandmate Tommy Larkin

Formed four years ago and popular at the Blue Beet, Fireside Chats features three NHHS alumni and football players from the undefeated 1994 CIF Championship team, 1996 CIF Finals, and 1997 CIF Semifinals. Oscar has returned to NHHS as a Science teacher and coach of Freshman Football. They are a musical experience that transports the audience to the fireside while camping or backpacking. Audience participation through singing along and playing percussive instruments is not only encouraged but is essential for the musical experience.

Reconnect with your favorite teachers, coaches and staff to share good memories, funny stories, and how their teaching inspired you. Check the list to see who will be there when, and we know other old friends will stop by throughout the afternoon!

invited organizations from all over campus to set up a booth, so you can find your fellow alumni, get updates on upcoming performances or games, and maybe even buy some NHHS gear.

Stroll through the hallowed halls of NHHS on a guided tour led by enthusiastic NHHS students from the Link Crew. It will bring back fond memories and show you how our alma mater has grown through the years. Learn tidbits of Sailor history and see inside the rebuilt Robins Hall.  


Walk-ups welcome, but we’d appreciate if you’d fill in an interest form to help us gauge how many guides we’ll need.

There are some amazing prizes: a 2-hour Duffy ride, gift baskets from Hi-Time and Kean Coffee, gift cards to Newport Rib Company, Mi Casa, Harborside Restaurant & Gary’s Fashion Island. Two handmade items you will not want to miss are a classic NH plaque, and the stunning “Flea Market Flip” hand-crafted garden bench featuring original arm rests from the 1930 NHHS theater seats (a must see!). All proceeds will benefit our Scholarship program which prioritizes students attending a community college, trade, technical, or nursing school. After the last year, we know will continue to see great need, so your support is much appreciated through the Auction or direct donation.
