Our Sailor family is invited to a NEW event added to our Hall of Fame week—a special showing of the Academy Award nominated film American History X followed by a Q&A with the screenwriter and one of our newest Hall of Fame members David McKenna (Class of 1986).

Based on McKenna’s experiences in the punk rock scene, this important film depicts how prejudice can tear a family apart. It received critical acclaim and an Academy Award nomination for Edward Norton as Best Actor. McKenna sold the script of American History X when he was only 26 years old and went on to work on other projects like Get Carter (2000), Blow (2001), S.W.A.T. (2003) and more.

Get a chance to see this film on a big screen with your Sailor community and then join in a thoughtful discussion of the movie’s inspirations, themes, and relevance today. You will not want to miss this unique opportunity.

*This movie is Rated R for mature content. It depicts acts and language that are violent and racist. Students under 18 need to present a singed Parent Permission Form at the door, and all viewers are advised to use caution when engaging with this material.

The proceeds from this showing will support our Scholarship program for graduating NHHS Seniors who demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and an interest in pursuing a career in a trade, technical, film, culinary, or nursing field or at a community college. Over the past seven years, because of the generosity of Sailor alumni like you, we have helped the career dreams of 46 deserving students come true.

Last June, we recognized ten amazing students from the Class of 2023, and we were able to offer our 2022 winners a second year of support. We received a record number of applications, and after the hardships of the pandemic, we continued to see more need than ever before.

Your ticket will help sustain this important program and directly benefit the next generation of Sailors. If you have an additional $5, $50, or $500 to contribute, we and the NHHS students would greatly appreciate it.

One of our 2022 recipients Emily Park wrote movingly about what this scholarship meant to her:
“I am so grateful for the NHHS Alumni Association, as the scholarship has allowed me to focus on my studies and fully engage in everything the college has to offer. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the support and trust you have placed in me. Knowing I have so many people believing in me, I am determined to make the most of my educational opportunity and strive for excellence.”

Help us keep this essential program thriving with a donation today!

Make sure to tell your NHHS friends & family about this exclusive event, so they can get their seats before they sell out!
